National Apprenticeship Training Scheme (NATS) – Student Enrollment, Assessment & Creditisation

The National Apprenticeship Training Scheme (NATS), under the Ministry of Education, Government of India, provides an opportunity for students to undergo practical training in industries and organizations across the country. The scheme is implemented through the Boards of Apprenticeship Training (BOATs) and the Board of Practical Training (BOPT).

Objective
  • NATS aims to equip students with industry-relevant skills and support their transition from academic learning to professional employment. The scheme enables students to gain exposure to real work environments, enhance their technical competencies, and improve their employability prospects.
Eligibility for Students
  • Students who have successfully completed a degree, diploma, or vocational course from institutions recognized by the Government of India.
  • Candidates must be 18 years of age or above.
  • Only fresh graduates and diploma holders who have not previously undergone apprenticeship training under NATS are eligible.
Training and Certification
  • Apprenticeship training is conducted in collaboration with industries.
  • Students receive a stipend during the training period as per Government guidelines.
  • After successful completion, students are awarded a Certificate of Proficiency in Apprenticeship Training by the Government of India.
Assessment & Creditisation

In line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and the National Credit Framework (NCrF), apprenticeship training under NATS is formally recognized through assessment and creditisation.
